宋人有耕者。田中有株,兔走触株,折颈而死。因释其耒而守株,冀复得兔。兔不可复得,而身为宋国笑。
There was a farmer in the Song state. One day, a rabbit crashed into a tree stump in his field and broke its neck. Delighted by this unexpected windfall, the farmer abandoned his farming to guard the stump, hoping to catch another rabbit. However, no more rabbits came, and he became a laughingstock in Song.
不劳而获不可取,机遇只留给有准备的人。偶然的成功不能作为长期策略。
Seeking effortless gains is unacceptable; opportunities only come to those who are prepared. Accidental success should not be used as a long-term strategy.
