The Foolish Old Man Removes the Mountains
There were two mountains, Taihang and Wangwu, seven hundred li wide and ten thousand zhang high. They stood in the north of Jizhou and south of Heyang. An old man named Yugong, nearly ninety years old, lived facing the mountains. Frustrated by the blocking of the north and the tortuous path, he gathered his family and said, Let us work together to level these mountains. If we do this, we can open a road to the south of Yu.
As long as there is perseverance and determination, there is no difficulty that cannot be overcome.
After the moral, ask one question: if a similar choice showed up today, where does the story snag? Name that tension first—then take your own step. You need not copy the ancients, only borrow their clarity.
