Huangshan is famous for pines, grotesque granite, and cloud-seas—but its clarity also comes from being written: Xu Xiake’s travel praise and Li Bai’s farewell verse taught later eyes how to look.

Scholars treated Huangshan as a landscape to inhabit in language, not a slogan. Read it as a way of seeing: cloud and needle as materials of memory.
