Climbing High

Wind sharp, sky high, gibbons cry mournfully… Boundless falling leaves; endless Yangtze rolls on. A guest of autumn for ten thousand li; old and often ill, I climb alone…
Autumn landscape fused with exile, age, and restraint.
Du Fu’s Climbing High: boundless falling leaves—late-life ascent; ten-thousand-li autumn grief and illness stacked in one line. A peak of dense sorrow. Contrast Gazing at Tai: youthful will vs aged body.
In hard seasons, honesty about fatigue is strength; climbing can be clarity, not bravado.
